Newt runs against the press to win big.

Just as Obama has been running against congress for re-election, Gingrich can credit his South Carolina win to running against the fifth estate.  Blasting the press guy's question at the last Republican debate brought the crowd to their feet.   This confirms the press is an informal part of government.  In Canada we have the odd spectacle of a press cut off from the kind of government it wants to support, like dogs milling around  the spot where they lost the scent of their prey.   ('kind of" added in response to comment).
And this new headline:  "Gingrich beats media in South Carolina 54 to 14"
Ruling elites are on horses, press men on foot.

Added from Redstate: Newt Gingrich Wins. What It Means.  "The base is revolting because they swept the GOP back into relevance in Washington just under two years ago and they have been thanked with contempt ever since." "People are mad as hell they are about to be stuck with another boring, moderate, uninspiring choice." "Sure, he’d probably be an erratic President, but right now Republican voters don’t care about his Presidency. They care about the fight with the left both Mitt Romney, and the Washington Republican leaders like John Boehner and Mitch McConnell don’t seem inclined to engage in." "The base is angry, and right now, only Newt is left to fight for them, as imperfect as he is. "
