"Effortless Sailing with Fluid Flow Cloak"
Water can be tricked into letting a vessel pass with little wake. Fuel savings will be huge. The concept is to draw water in, accelerate it and jet it back out at the same speed as the boat through thousands of pores. It would make continuous skin of moving water on the hull that will seem to stand still relative to the passing ocean. The energy cost to pump a film of water up to the boat's speed is much less than the energy to push the extra water aside that generates a turbulent wake. Science Daily News
