This paradoxical finding is explained (
Science Daily). The Fanged Frogs on the Island of Sulawesi have less competition from other kinds of frogs, resulting in them being able to find and adapt to more niches. A dozen species were found on the one island while the entire Philippines archipelago has the same number of Fanged species. The difference is a competing genus of frogs in the Philippines.
