Less competition increases evolution rate of Fanged Frogs

This paradoxical finding is explained (Science Daily).  The Fanged Frogs on the Island of Sulawesi have less competition from other kinds of frogs, resulting in them being able to find and adapt to more niches.  A dozen species were found on the one island while the entire Philippines archipelago has the same number of Fanged species.  The difference is a competing genus of frogs in the Philippines.
