The answer is mostly "no". TD's answer isnt posted where you can find it easily. You have to go through hoops and phone calls for every transaction but it is possible. I asked for help. See copy of their letter to me below. The link to the Cardholder Agreement has many pages but only one reference to cryptocurrency, noting that it will be charged interest on the same basis as a cash advance.
At TD, we regularly evaluate our policies and security measures to serve and protect our customers, as well as TD. We recently made the decision to permit crypto currency purchases with our Credit Cards, however each transaction will be approved or declined in accordance with our bank policy, to allow us to review this evolving industry.
This decision to block these types of transactions is not about the service or currency, it's about TD needing to ensure we know who we are doing business with, for our own protection and the protection of our cardholders. In many cases it is difficult to determine the actual operator of a website and where they are located, which raises fraud and loss risks for both TD and cardholders. I apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.
If you'd like to discuss this in greater detail, we encourage you to call our Credit Card Experts at 1-800-983-8472/416-307-7722 (collect), available 7am-12am EST. As a tip, you can save time when calling through the TD App. Your call will be received as ?authenticated? which allows us to answer your call sooner. To do so, log in to the TD App, scroll to the bottom, and select the "Contact Us" option, then select "Call Us", and then select TD Credit Cards. If you do not currently have the TD Mobile App downloaded to your device, instructions to download the TD App can be found Here. For your convenience, I have included your Cardholder Agreement for more information here: TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite - Cardholder Agreement.
I understand this may not have been the answer you were looking for, Kenneth. I would like to again apologize for any inconvenience caused. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any further questions on this matter. I hope you have a great rest of your day!
Kind regards,
