In California, 13 county secession summit is on the agenda

"The Riverside County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution today calling for a summit of 13 counties in southern California to discuss forming a 51st state. The vote was 4-0, with one supervisor absent."

And an earlier reflection on the benefits from Walter Russell Mead
"The only hope I can see is to break it up.   California’s core problem is that it has outgrown the constitutional model we have for it. "

  1. The article just says they think Southern and Northern CA are too different to be governed together. What do they want; Jerry Brown all to themselves?

  2. I blame the Inter Tubes. Net links reduce the number of layers of management needed to operate a system. People who want to group hug with Jerry Brown can do that in the north and people who want to vote GOP and keep an identity while living next to Mexico ... can have their group.
