Tornado map of the US goes back half a century.

56 years of tornado tracks in the US reveals patterns.  A few show up almost everywhere, there is a western cut-off line in prairie country and there's a consistent NE direction.  Compare this animated winds map for all of the US.  The tornado tracks don't follow the most common wind direction.
