Kyoto accord irrelevant thanks to fracking.

Sit down, take a deep breath before reading this:

"Right now, fracking is doing more to control carbon emissions than all the efforts of all the greens in the world. And by promoting American (and Chinese!) domestic energy production, it is doing more to lay the foundations of world peace than all the peace activists and disarmament campaigners in the world". Walter Russell Mead at ViaMedia.

"Much to the surprise ... of the deranged doomsaying wing of the environmental movement, new forecasts of US CO2 emission are out and they point to an even steeper drop than the last set of predictions. No cap and trade, no huge new taxes on oil, no draconian driver restrictions, no air conditioning bans, no rationing — and the US is on track to cut its CO2 emissions 17 percent below the 2005 levels by 2020 — and to keep cutting our emissions levels beyond that. ... These numbers come from the Obama administration and are sitting right up on Don Lashof’s well respected blog at the National Resource Defense Council website. Take a look for yourselves. ... It’s almost as if there is no connection between the green policy agenda and environmental progress".

From Walt Kelly's 1953 "The Pogo Papers":  The "Voice of Righteousness" then represented by the Deacon would today be a an interventionist politician wearing a Tilly.  Pup dog to the rescue I'd peg as the entrepreneurial spirit.
