Russian Soldiers Using SIM cards on the Ukrainian Network Reveal Troop Concentrations Exactly.

The information dates from the endof March.   Russian SIM cards inserted into stolen Ukrainian phones. Besides being out of date, this is complicated since there are areas where cell towers have been knocked down and it looks like the Crimea has a Russian cell service.  It also points to areas that are "captured" but are not controlled.  One commenter says the soldiers won't give up their phones to officers because the officers will steal them too.

To understand what Canadians believe about Covid and our Charter of Rights and Freedom, read what Russians think about attacking Ukrainians.

This is painful reading.  The "Overton Window" to discuss the special operation in Ukraine doesn't overlap your own.   My Canadian and American neighbours are often comfortable in beliefs that don't match the reality I see and the evidence I note.    You don't have to read all the way through these poignant interview clips.  My only caveat is that the Russian interviewers confined themselves to fifty people in Moscow and one other Russian area (Kaluga) but other allied regioos of the former USSR are contributing material and men to the Ukraine adventure.

Slow boat from China: Looks like you could walk ship to ship up the entire coast of China and never dip toes in the sea.

At a granular level, this shipping map is not so extremely bad.  Some vessels are in other ports with short turnarounds, some are steaming in and out and the area is always extraordinarily busy, but China's own goal on their economy is startling

If you were looking to put your loose money somewhere, would you be considering short supply chains closer to home for mining and manufacturing precursor industrial inputs?

SCOTUS Leak Timing

 Embrace the power of AND.

"The draft opinion was leaked to the press .. in an attempt to switch the vote before it was announced"

AND

"The historic leak from the Supreme Court has sucked all the oxygen from the premier release of an explosive documentary outlining the 2020 election fraud.  Many are seeing the timing as suspiciously strategic."

The document has dating from two months ago.  The clerk who stole the information and passed it to bigger players wasn't the one who set up the timing.  [ Politico: "the immediate impact of the ruling as drafted in February"]

Musk bought the evidence.

From a comment at thenewneo.com:

Musk didn't just buy Twitter
He bought the evidence.

BTW have you noticed that Musk hasn't bought Twitter?  The deal doesn't close for another five months but the hammer swings today.

J6 is opposition attack. Like the Mueller probe, that is its only purpose.

From Sundance:

"What the Mueller probe was to President Trump, the J6 Committee is to the MAGA movement.

Everyone, and I do mean e.v.e.r.y.o.n.e in Washington DC knew Robert Mueller was appointed as special counsel for one reason, to target President Trump, weaken his administration and ultimately remove him from office. Not a single entity in DC did not know that was the goal. The same is true here.

Everyone in DC knows Nancy Pelosi’s J6 Committee is intended to target Democrat political opposition. That is the goal. That is ONLY the goal. Not a single entity in DC does not know that is the goal."

Mauldin: Global Recession May Turn Scary

From Mauldin's latest free newsletter.

North Africa inclduing Egypt and Lebanon are heavily dependent on Russia and the Ukraine to feed their people.  Some will skip debt payments to feed their people and avoid riots.
A quarter of US$ denominated debt in China is "stressed" and risks going unpaid.
Ukraine and Russia corner the world market in sunflower oil.
GDP and the velocity of money tracked each other for decades but velocity plunged beginning 2010.  The measuring tape to predict recessions is damaged.
Every penny rise in for a gallon of gas costs the US economy 1.2 billion dollars.  The actual changes in the US are similar to a tax increase of $200,000,000,000.  It will be felt.
The 7.9% inflation jump February in the CPI index doesnt reflect the start of war.  This number is going up.
China gets a lot of oil from Russia too.   The world will want to burn the same amount of oil but will be buying it from a smaller pool.  There won't be enough for a while.

Sources for Ukraine-Russia information, Updates.

Smallwarsjournal   Link has many sublinks to Twitter feeds you wouldn't otherwise see.

Cappy's army March 7th video has source clips on logistics and more with perspective and, oddly, humour.

Historical background on Russia from a retired Lithuanian intelligence officer.  Starts with the Holy Roman Empire, goes on to the Mongols (who never really left) and comes to the slivoki.  (English captions).

Understandingwar.org has daily updates re situation in the field.  What's distinctive are the many footnoted links to Army headquarters, Facebook and Twitter sites, Pravda, CNN and so on.  Most in cyrillic script.

The following six links are from this article at spinstrangenesscharm.wordpress.com

Kotkin's interview at the New Yorker:   Re Zelensky: "Having a TV-production company run a country is not a good idea in peacetime, but in wartime, when information war is one of your goals, it’s a fabulous thing to have in place."  On the expansion of NATO: "Way before NATO existed—in the nineteenth century—Russia looked like this: it had an autocrat. It had repression. It had militarism. It had suspicion of foreigners and the West. This is a Russia that we know, and it’s not a Russia that arrived yesterday"

Vlad Vexler on what it would take for a coup in Russia.  Who will get to harness the half of the 85% of Russians who are going along with present bumps in the road but are watching to see who is the stronger horse.  Also, the oligarchs had political power in the 90's but much less now and their children are a factor too.  There's a few seconds clip of a waffling secret service head being challenged by Putin to spell it out.

Kuzio interviewed on morale of Russian Army.  "Lied to, lack fire in the belly" and more.  Those videos of tanks destroyed are not just by civilians.  Ukrainian forces are taking brag shots and posting them on social media and sending them in to headquarters too.   Putin just created 45 million Ukrainian nationalists instead of freeing "russians" from nazi rule.   Hacking put Ukrainian propaganda on Russian TV that older folk wath.  Information overload will fuel future war crime trials.  What about reparations as a tax on future oil exports.  NATO is already at war with Ukraine, 28 countries in fact are supplying weapons that are killing Russian soldiers and giving cyber defence.  NATO is supplying intelligence allowing Ukrainians to kill Russian soldiers. (Note two senior Russian officers located and killed.)  A No Fly zone could also be over Western Ukraine only to stop the refugee flood, it could be sponsored by OSCE or UN instead of NATO.  "To this day, Russians don't really know where their borders are".  We're seeing a declining great power declining faster.  Think about it: You've watched videos of Ukrainian soldiers talking Russian to Russian soldiers.  Speaking Russian doesn't make you a Russian nationalist any more than a Canadian speaking English makes them American.  Russia is back to 1991.

China has a nuanced and changing position.  Trade with Russia is about 1/20th of trade with the US.  Corporate China may be playing a more influential role than Govermental China.

Captured Russian officer gives thoughtful observations on what he was told going into battle.

Fukuyama on Russia's coming defeat.  "Russian soldiers were evidently carrying dress uniforms for their victory parade in Kyiv rather than extra ammo and rations"

Canadian seniors in care had worst covid death record in the world.

During the first pandemic year, almost all Covid deaths (81%) in Canada happened in senior care homes and the protocols that were in place that helped make it happen. It appears to be the worst record on earth.  When Quebec deployed military staff to those homes, the news gotout.

Trudeau really said he paid off the media.

27 second clip at a funny fraternal press dinner.  Trudeau ( lately "castrea" ) actually said it's no wonder the media give Liberals a break, because they were paid off with six hundred million dollarrs.  In case you forget, the payout which went to almost every known journalist and media group in Canada (except Rebel Media) was a few weeks before the last election was called.     It was meant as a joke but feels like a groaner.

Payback time for Trudeau: India's Ambassador Vohra calls him out for betrayal of trust. Read the unforgettable one minute transcript.

India's ambassador to Canada calls out Trudeau for betraying Canadians.  Deepak Vohra's January 30th remarks are transcribed below the 1 minute video clip.

"Let me begin by saying the Canadian Prime Minister who tried to advise us on how to deal with the farmers' protest last year and swore that Canada will be there to defend the rights of preaceful protest, has run away from the truckers and others, even as we speak on the 30th of January 2022.  They are rallying against vaccine mandates, inflation, supply chain interruptions, etcetera.   So, the fellow who was trying to give us advice has actually gone into hiding.  He has betrayed their trust.  The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies. It comes from those you have faith in.  Some of the most poisonous people come disguised as friends and family.  My motto has always been to protect the opressed,  even if he is my enemy, but I will never forgive the traitor, even if he is my friend."

Is this unfair?

The picture leaves out other drug companies and more importantly leaves out the social media and more importantly leaves out politicians and the panoply of allied bureaucrats.  Some kids are being killed but this is not admitted.

VAX: The Cure is Worse than the Disease.

The first battleline was over the nature of the virus and what our response should be.
The second battline was over the nature of our response where mRNA and lockdown powers eclipsed science and even common sense.
The third battleline is emerging and it's a scary one.  Who will be held responsible for mass manslaughter? The greatest maiming and killing event of history is rising from the miasma of fear and overreach.  The death rate from all causes is rising and it won't be swept forever under a rug because it's the database of all insurance companies.  It's not just rising, the death rate from all causes is suddenly several standard deviations out of line.

This isn't mass murder but it begins to look like manslaughter.
The VAX promoters have more to worry about than the Lockdown promoters.
The people to fear are not the ones who refused the jabs.  Those people can handle being misinformed and lied to and they stood their ground.  Fear the jabbed who didn't accept responsibility and will say, "We trusted you and our kids and friends are damaged and dead"    These formerly willing victims will be the ones to fear.

Victoria downtown full of uptight masked people.

I went to the January 29th Freedom rally on Victoria's legislature lawn with thousands of friendly unmasked people .  What stunned me walking about after was seeing sixty percent of the people on the streets wearing masks.  I'd just come from Nanaimo where ten percent of the people were masked on the streets.  What's wrong with Victoria?   Do the downtown citizens all have a "stick up their ass", disapproving of Bonny Henry for not being authoritarian enough?  My sweetheart carried a mild sign, "BRING BACK HUGS  - SHOW YOUR SMILE" and we noted people looking away to avoid eye contact!  I asked one man who had glanced at the sign, "Why are you wearing a mask when you don't have to?"     He said, "Yeah, fuck that",  tucked mask under the chin and walked off.

Peer-reviewed papers by definition block new knowledge.

A wonderful clip of an older scientist who finds college grads  trust only peer-reviewed papers and not the evidence of their own senses.  Peer-reviewed means the reviewers think the same thoughts as the reviewee.  (Alan Savory)    When someone sees reality in a new way with new insight, there can be no peers to review them, no one else who already agrees!

Justin Trudeau son of Pierre or maybe even son of Fidel: What difference does it make?

The difference is that neither role model loved democracy more than communism.
His parents were in the Caribbean at Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago and "an unnamed island" in 1971 at the time he was conceived.  Only one island could not be named in those days: Cuba.
That his parents so admired Castro is enough red flags for any Canadian who loves our country.
Just for a bonus, there's a photo that is said to be Fidel, Che and Justin with a mop of hair about a year later on a third trip.

We the People ( Kid Rock ) is going to go all over the world, stronger than an army.

This powerful song is crude and bang on.
This is a revolution.
Read all the lyrics. Hear the song.
It applies now in America.
It will resonate in every land on earth.

"We The People"

We the people in all we do
Reserve the right to scream "Fuck you"
(Hey-yeah) ow
(Hey-yeah) huh
"Wear your mask, take your pills"
Now a whole generation's mentally ill
(Hey-yeah) man, fuck Fauci
(Hey-yeah)

But COVID's near, it's coming to town
We gotta act quick, shut our borders down
Joe Biden does, the media embraces
Big Don does it and they call him racist

We the people (ooh, let's go Brandon)
We the people (ooh, let's go Brandon)
We the people (ooh, let's go Brandon)
We the people

Fuck Facebook, fuck Twitter too
And the mainstream media, fuck you too, too, too
(Woo) yeah, you

We the people (ooh, yeah)
We the people

Inflation's up, like the minimum wage
So it's all the same, it ain't a damn thing changed
(Hey-yeah
Hey-yeah)
You piece of shit, I don't see color
"Black lives matter", no shit motherfucker
(Hey-yeah
Hey-yeah)

But we gotta keep fighting for the right to be free
And every human being doesn't have to agree
We all bleed red, brother, listen to me
It's time for love and unity

We the people (ooh, let's go Brandon)
We the people (ooh, let's go Brandon)
We the people (ooh, let's go Brandon)
We the people

Fuck CNN, fuck TMZ
And you social media trolls, y'all can suck on deez (deez)
Deez nuts, that's what's up

We the people (ha-ha)

If you down with love and wanna make things better
All we gotta do is just come together
Weather the storm, and take my hand
Then follow my lead to the promised land
'Cause we the people, we gotta unite
To follow that good time guiding light
Climb aboard this love boat
And rock that bitch up and down the coast

In order to form a more perfect union
Do ordain and establish this constitution for the United States of America

We the people (ooh, let's go Brandon)
We the people (ooh, let's go Brandon)
We the people (ooh, let's go Brandon)
We the people

Standing up, and standing tall
'Cause it's all for one and it's one for all
All, all, all
We the people (ooh)
We the people

Let's go Brandon
Let's go Brandon
Let's go Brandon
Let's go Brandon

By region, who has money in China?

Look familiar?  Beijing is like Washington.  Then come coastal elites and its feeders.  The rest is flyover country (red) but much poorer than America.  The rest is also less Han Chinese and more "ethnic".  Sourced here.

Around the Horn by square rigger in 1929 through killer storms: A droll narrative of unforgettable danger.

Once watched, never forgotten, filmed in black and white in 1929, sometimes 17 storeys up the mast, and a constant source of surprises and history.  39 minutes of immense danger and pride.

There's way more variability than fits a simple narrative of ice.

Ten year chart of all-cause deaths in Canada

Sourced here
It's noteworthy that viral and "all other causes" are seasonal while most are not.
Both cancer and heart and "all other causes" appear to decline, perhaps in response to Covid decisions.   he trendline to increased deaths for all causes, when smoothed, has been rising for a decade.
Make sense of that!

Edgy stories from the life insurance industry are pointing to the sharp rise in deaths from causes that may be linked to clotting and vaccination but the trendline predates Wuhan flu.

Below is another chart showing how the Wuhan flu's successors outcompeted the original strains AND influenza A too.  And a third chart, also from Ruechel's site, showing how successive Wuhan strains don't just prosper, they completely wipe out the older competitors.

She survived the "Socialism" part of NAZI as a litle girl in Austria.

Don't forget that  NAZI means  "National Socialism" and is very left wing nationalism.  Kitty Werthmann opened my eyes to how socialism kills too.  Her 33 minutes about life as a little girl in Austria under Hitler includes the parents who thought it was a good idea to put their handicapped children in a van and send them off to a special school to be taught reading and writing. Within six months, all these healthy but handicapped children had passed away peacefully according to letters the parents received.  There is lots more free stuff from the state that will chill your blood.  Her dry, almost humorous delivery is spell-binding.

What is the ideal average temperature of the earth?

That's a good question and belongs in climate change debates.
No one knows.

"What is the ideal average temperature of the earth"?

Yes 5G is an issue with airlines. It's not about tinfoil hats.

I've run into conspiracy theories about 5G.  Airlines protesting its introduction in the US is not one of them.  From CNN Business you will learn it has nothing to do with cell phones and everything to do with cell towers located close to runways.  The key information at risk is "exactlh how high am I as I bring tis plane in to land?"   Modern planes like the 777 use radar bounced off the earth to determine exact altitude.  We're familiar with the older less-precise barometer technology which uses changes in air pressure to determine altitude.  The signals pulsing around the cell tower are similar enough to the radar pulses that airlines think crashes are a plausible consequence.  They calling not for the elimination of 5G but for a fix that guarantees the signals can be discriminated reliably.

"Transportation regulators had already been concerned that the version of 5G that was scheduled to be switched on could interfere with some airplane instruments, and many aviation industry groups shared those fears — despite reassurances from federal telecom regulators and wireless carriers.
Specifically, the Federal Aviation Administration has been worried that 5G cellular antennas near some airports — not air travelers' mobile devices — could throw off readings from some aircraft equipment designed to tell pilots how far they are from the ground. Those systems, known as radar altimeters, are used throughout a flight and are considered critical equipment. (Radar altimeters differ from standard altimeters, which rely on air pressure readings and do not use radio signals to gauge altitude.)
In December, the FAA issued an urgent order forbidding pilots from using the potentially affected altimeters around airports where low-visibility conditions would otherwise require them. That new rule could keep planes from getting to some airports in certain circumstances, because pilots would be unable to land using instruments alone."

Bonnie Henry (works for Dix) orders everything on her personal say so.

Have a look at these thirteen pages of bureaucratic fiat she just authored for all school boards and teachers the other day, after two years of Public Health Orders.  It's a stealth vax mandate for them all.   She gives 26 WHEREAS's before getting to a little lip service quoted from the law of Canada:

"I recognize that constitutionally protected interests include the rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, including specifically freedom of religion and conscience, freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, and the right not to be deprived of life, liberty or security of the person, other than in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice. I understand that making decisions about whether to get vaccinated may engage these rights and freedoms. However, these rights and freedoms are not absolute and are subject to such reasonable limits, prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society."

Although the highlight is directly quoted from our constitution,  it doesn't mean a darn thing here because absolutely nothing is demonstrated.  She states what her bosses have okayed in these pages and every single word is undocumented.  You cannot begin to trace any statement to any body of evidence because it is all buried behind her say-so.  Who appointed her chief scientist and lawmaker?

We are citizens and not subjects.  We are entitled to know what drives the mouthpiece of our government. Give us access to the data you count on and to the debates that have now been crystalised as PHO's with only one viewpoint in evidence.

Why is this a stealth mandate?  It implies a vaccination mandate but peters out in the EMPLOYER TO COLLECT section, subclause 4, "When putting in place measures to prevent, mitigate or respond to the spread of infection in a school, the employer must proceed on the basis that a staff member who has not provided proof of vaccination is unvaccinated."   What she has done here is put the onus on the educators to use this intensely critically highlighted information that they are obligated to collect.  They are on the hook, not her.  The second last sentence anticpates trouble:  "If you fail to comply with this Order, I have the authority to take enforcement acdtion against you".

Risk of Covid-19 breakthrough infection rises sharply after 2nd jab. Alberta stats.

As posted here at smalldeadanimals.   The Alberta government has deleted the data.
The first chart shows that pretty much nobody came down with Covid-19 after the first jab except during the first few days.  The chart to the right shows that large numbers took ill, beginning about three months after the 2nd jab, peaking at six months.   The lower pair of charts cover the same topic with hospitalizations only.

Specialization by Sex of Common Tasks in 185 Pre-Industrial Societies

Source: Murdock & Provost 1973. Factors in the division of labor by sex: A cross-cultural analysis. Ethnology, 12(2): 203-225.

h/t Heather Heying

Specializaton by  sex is the norm, some tasks being almost exclusively run by one sex, others shared.  Because genetically based tasks like gestation and lactation are excluded from this list, the exclusively female list is shorter.

Since these are learned tasks, it's reasonable to conclude that gender, which is also learned, plays a big role but a role that has tens of thousands of years of pre-history.

(Heying adds these thoughts about expendable kinetic males:

"Furthermore, there are initial inequalities in what each sex brings to the act—females have eggs, which are huge (for cells), and rich with nourishing cytoplasm; males have sperm, which are tiny, stripped down, and excellent at finding what they want. ... females across species are far more likely to provide love and nutrients to their young, and to seek a mate who will help with the care, often in the form of defense; while males across species are far more likely to look for easy opportunities—to “sow and go”—but also, when partnered, to actively defend those they love²
Men are (on average) bigger, stronger, more likely to be interested in taking risks, and more expendable. Women are (on average) smaller, less strong, less driven to take big risks, and less expendable.")

Recursive nesting: A truth test in a noisy environment.

I am bombarded with conflicting narratives.  The narratives are slanted for influence and advantage and advanced for motives both noble and base.  Can I sort for what is true?  I'm going with a lesser question:  How can I sort for what is persuasively probative?

A single community of belief and culture does not exist.  Paradigms based on interpreting the position of the planets when I was born, the inspired Word of God, "science proves",  or simply "what everyone knows" absorbed from the nightly news and movie scene, are not universal.

I find a partial solution in fractals.  Fractals are chaotic but reveal similar patterning at different scales.  The example I like is a multiply branched fern frond.  The branch of the branch of the branch is somewhat similar to the mega branch.   I also like the imagery of atomic structure which has parallels to planetary structure which has parallels to galactic structure, although none of it exact.

"Recursive nesting" means I see a truth statement has application in different settings at different levels.  An observation about how my friends get along should have some transference to how city council runs and how I get along with my spouse, and how other mammals handle conflict.  "Recursive nesting" means when I collate statements about an event or policy from different sources, they should generally align, a bit like Pringle chips in the can.  When they don't align, that's a proof of untruths present in the narrative.   I recommend looking up or down a level rather than laterally sorting through competing narratives at the same political level.

Read and weep: Pfizer CEO disses his own Covid product.

 The money quote:

We know the two-dose vaccine offers very limited protection, if any. The three doses with a booster, offers reasonable protection against hospitalization and death.”

Check it with your own disbelieving ears in this short video.  The statement, or confession if you prefer, comes at the beginning of the clip.  (1:35)    It's not as crazy as it sounds at first.  Bourla is referring to injections to block omicron infections.

The Pandemic Will Be Over March 1st.

March 1st is when Biden will deliver the SOTU, the latest ever on record and his last chance to turn things around with a positive message for the Democrats to stop a slaughter in the 2022 midterms.  The clue is in the sudden discovery of common sense in the elite lockdown crowd.   The Washington Post gave four pinnochios yesterday to Democrat Supreme Sotomayer!  The talking heads in health say we should distinguish "with Covid" hospitalizations from "because of Covid" hospitalisations.  The stats are suddenly deemphasizing "cases" and leaning towards "hospitalizations".  In several states there is clear evidence that the omicron Covid wave has peaked and begun a rapid decline and predictions are that more will rapidly follow.  Before March 1st, the "floodgates" of Pfizer data will open with the first 50,000 pages being released.

This makes sense of the puzzling explosion of sensible remarks from the deep state people.  I owe the insight to Jeff Childer's Jan 10th "Coffee & Covid" email.

"Mission Accomplished! Biden can claim success — he DID shut down the virus! He can be the liberator; the great emancipator who freed the country from all these horrible … but unfortunately necessary … imposed reluctantly but following the science … Covid policies. See? It’s done! Boosters worked! Masking worked! Lockdowns worked! It all worked, just like he promised it would. Promise: kept.
To credibly pull this off, they have to start NOW. And they have to be quick: they only have a couple months to turn the Titanic around. It is going to cause a lot of whiplash and mental hyperextension injuries to pro-mandate fanatics.

One possibility could be ending the testing. That will get cases down. And guess what? They’re backing off universal testing. Another easy move would be changing the definition of a Covid death back to what it always would have been before March 2020."

Infection Rate for Omicron in Ontario suddenly much higher for the Vaxxed than the UnVaxxed

The chart shows how many Ontarians per hundred thousand tested positive in both two groups.  That's a fair comparison. The opposite was up to a month ago.  No longer!!!   (Don't be confused by the straight line for the unvaccinated.    It just shows that at whatever rate the unvaccinated were getting infected, the vaccinated were having breakthrough infections at about a quarter that rate until November and then things reversed.)       There's a "but".  See below.

The "BUT".  The total number of hospitaliztions per 100,000 is still slightly higher for the unvaccinated.  The vaccinated had an 800% advantage but now have a 50% advantage, changing rapidly.  As McIntyre says, if your data isn't up to date, it's not useful

Pompeo Before And After

I like Mike Pompeo but couldn't recognize him without the photo caption.  He took off 90 pounds in six months this past year by eating less and exercising more.  (Reported in NY Post).

If they say, "There's no "I" in TEAM, you say:

"Yes but there's an "I" in Integrity and Independence".  (George Carlin)
If that doesn't work, try this:
"Yes, but there's an M and an E in TEAM".  (Instapundit commenter, John Smith)

Mass Formation Psychosis: Don't Underestimate the Evil Propensities of the Popular Media.

When politicians dare to speak cautiously about coronavirus, reporters challenge them to be extreme instead.  Have you noticed?  They are a fear-multiplier and have much to answer for.

Abraham Lincoln Observed that Republicans are Attacked as Reptiles and worse: Nothing has improved since the civil war.

From the Cooper Union speech in 1860, by Lincoln:
"When you speak of us Republicans, you do so only to denounce us as reptiles, or, at the best, as no better than outlaws. You will grant a hearing to pirates or murderers, but nothing like it to [Republicans]. In all your contentions with one another, each of you deems an unconditional condemnation of [Republicanism] as the first thing to be attended to. Indeed, such condemnation of us seems to be an indispensable prerequisite — license, so to speak — among you to be admitted or permitted to speak at all".

Best Groaner Joke: Laugh despite yourself.

The grim-faced cop knocks on her door in a fishing town.
I have some bad news. And some good news.  And some very good news.
Shocked, she asks:  What is the bad news?
We're very sorry to report your husband has drowned and was found just offshore.
Oh my God!  But you say there is good news too?
Yes. When we pulled him up, there were three large lobster on him.
That's appalling!  How can there be even better news?
We're bringing him up again tomorrow.

Heather Heying of Dark Horse: "I want desperately to be wrong. I want the Covid vaccines to be both safe and effective".

"I want desperately to be wrong: I want the Covid vaccines to be both safe and effective. I want them to be the simple, easy solution that was promised. I want the public health measures to have been effective and for us to be returning to a democracy that is intact and healthy. I see many pronouncements asserting the veracity of these claims, but no evidence that any of them are true."

Marxism with an American Face: The rich can be the revolution!

In Professor Hanson's "The Dying Citizen"  he writes that in America the targets of traditional Marxism used to be wealth, class and birth status but have been transmogrified with wokeism to become race and sex.  Two salient points here:
1.  Race and sex are immutable but wealth and class are not because in America, millions move in and out of wealth and class every  year.     Being immutable, this kind of identity politics produces tribes instead of citizens.

2.  The rich are off the hook!  They can pay their dues at the woke altar and still be part of the revolution themselves.
